About the Site
The Terraria info you'll receive here is up to date for the PC, Playstation, Xbox, and Mobile versions of Terraria. My goal with the site is not to make an encyclopedia of Terraria - the wiki is there for that. My site offers broad information that combines concepts, step by step tutorials, and newcomer help in order to help players understand the gameplay. I'll describe my own tactics and gear recommendations for defeating bosses, teach someone how to set up a potion farm, or offer advice on entering and succeeding in Hard Mode. There is also a walkthrough so that you can learn how to get started, and - later - what the next step for you might be in terms of progression. Below you will find all the articles I've written, with links to other info-heavy Terraria sites that may be useful to players.
Bosses are measures of progress in Terraria and will occasionally unlock new content. You can consider them gear/skill checks before you are able to access harder content. I'm working to expand the boss guides section each day until they're all covered, so please check back and consider sending some feedback to [email protected].
Bosses
A comprehensive list of all bosses in Terraria. It is a helpful reference for players who would like to know the materials they need to craft summoning items and where to get them. Within, you'll find links to strategy guides for specific bosses with info on what they drop and what their defeat unlocks. They are listed in the order that you're likely to encounter them, just to make it a bit more useful to a player progressing through the game using my site.
Boss Summoning Items & Crafting
A list of all the boss summoning items and their crafting materials, for your convenience.
Building Boss Fight Arenas: A Tutorial
This guide focuses on making an Arena fit to fight the Moon Lord, but it can be adapted to any boss in Terraria. I cover many of the environmental buffs you can provide to your character, from campfires and heart lanterns to honey and sunflowers.
Boss Immunity/Vulnerability to Debuffs
Here is a list of debuffs that work or don't work on bosses. This covers the main debuffs available to player characters in Terraria - Cursed Flames, Ichor, On Fire!, Poisoned, Venom, and Frostburn.
I've created a big strategy guide to making Money in Terraria and how you can get more of it. Learn how to summon bosses to farm them, and which is better - to sell ores or turn them into bars. You'll also get introduced to the idea of AFK and Automated farming for materials and rare drops.
While a true walkthrough for Terraria isn't possible, some aspects of progression are the same from one playthrough to the next. I'll work to update this section with more newbie tips as time allows, and I often start new characters to come up with new tips to share.
Terraria Walkthrough: A multi-part Beginner's Guide
(In Progress). This walkthrough will provide some tips to Terraria's newcomers, no matter which platform they're playing on. We'll start by building a house and making a set of wood armor, then get ready to explore the underground. I'll finally sum up with some information on progression in the game and the various new elements that unlock once you meet certain goals. From there, how you play the game is up to you!
My Terraria Progression Checklist can help you figure out what's next if you're stuck. It contains a rundown of all the barriers to new challenges in Terraria and should be of help to many players.
The Terraria Tips & FAQs page should also be helpful to newcomers. It includes information on gameplay objects and mechanics that are not immediately obvious.
Hard Mode - Getting Started and What to Do to Advance
Describes what changes in Terraria's Hard Mode and the new metals you can bless your world with. This should help someone hesitant and give them some advice on how to progress in the game.
Mining is such a big thing in Terraria that it deserves its own page here in my guide. Check out my Mining Guide for info on the depths ores are found, a list of all metal types, and mining strategies. It contains screenshots to show you how different ore distribution is when you go down a layer or two toward the caverns, when compared to the surface. The surface is for building, the underground and caverns are for mining!
The following tutorials are focused on teaching players how to do something that isn't obvious in the game, such as how to make your own biomes, get your first set of Wings once you've started Hard Mode, and how to make Obsidian from lava and water.
Chlorophyte Farming
Chlorophyte Ore is important. So important that the developers decided to make this ore grow so that it can be duplicated without cheating. Learn about the requirements to mine and grow Chlorophyte in this guide.
Gardening: Growing Plants for Potions
A guide to gardening in Terraria. This focuses on the 7 plants that are used in potion making, along with mushrooms and glowing mushrooms and how you can farm them. Includes an example garden made with planter boxes and clay pots, with information on plant bloom times (to collect seeds) and where to get each of the plants.
Getting Wings
Learn to fly in Terraria. Wings are first available in Hard Mode. This guide will teach you about the entry-level wings and how to farm the materials to craft them.
Hellstone and Obsidian
Learn to make water and lava combine to make Obsidian, craft the Obsidian Skin Potion and Obsidian Skull, and mine Hellstone. All to help you make Hellstone Bars and craft the best pre-Hardmode weapons and armor.
Making an Underground Corruption or Crimson Biome
Having the opposite Biome in your world can be useful, as they only spawn one and there are unique drops from Mimics and materials that come from only one or the others. This tutorial will show you how to make an underground biome of either type, while also explaining a bit how Terraria monster spawns work and how biomes are determined.
Spawn Rates & Biomes - Farming Biome Keys and Mimics
This article goes in-depth on spawn rates and how to create biomes, with the possibility of having an area where you can farm all the biome keys at once, along with the various mimics. It also discusses what you can do to increase the spawn rate, while linking to great AFK farmers' channels on Youtube so that you can make even better builds than I.
Some items you can craft in Terraria take multiple steps to make. These guides are focused on outlining what you need in order to make certain items and weapons.
Crafting Frostburn & Jester's Arrows
This is meant for new players. Both of these arrows shine in the early-game for providing great damage when used with a solid bow. They're easy to craft, it's just not obvious. This short tutorial teaches you about their benefits and explains how to craft them.
Crafting the Night's Edge, Excalibur, and Terra Blade
A step-by-step tutorial for finding the materials necessary to make a Night's Edge, Excalibur, and transforming those into True Night/s Edge/True Excalibur. Once that is done, players can craft their own Terra Blade, an end-game weapon that fires piercing projectiles with every swing.

Learn how to make the Water Candle on PC, or what you can use those found in the Dungeon for on console/mobile. Goblin Tinkerer
The Goblin Tinkerer is capable of reforging gear in order to help you build your character the way you want. He also sells rocket boots. Getting this NPC requires finding him after the Goblin Army is defeated. Certain conditions must be met for this to happen. This guide will help you with the process of finding this NPC.
NPC House Requirements & Invalid Housing
This guide goes over the various requirements of a house, along with simple tricks you can pull to make navigating a large building easier and common causes of invalid housing. You'll find info on the smallest possible home by width and height, and a little on deocrating that may help you realize some of your building options.
There are many other places to learn about the game. The Terraria Wiki is an excellent place to visit when you must know how to craft one item, or want to know what drops can be found from a certain biome. The Official Forum allows discussion about the game and you can learn from some of the great builders how to make machines that automate things on the Guide Board.
With more to come! I'm actively working on this project and started on September 23, 2015. As a result this site is up-to-date for 1.3 but still supports console and mobile players! I hope to cover every major aspect of the game and give my own take, not to compete with the amazing wiki that players have already built. Some aspects of Terraria can be combined into one page that helps by giving key information in a condensed format. Some things might require a person to load many pages on a wiki to understand. I'm focused on helping in those types of situations and providing step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish a goal. I hope this site is of help to you, and don't hesitate to send me feedback.
