Queen Bee is an optional boss residing in the Jungle and is accessible pre-Hardmode. Defeating her is a requirement to get the Witch Doctor NPC to move into your World. It's possible to fight her with around 18 total armor, but most players should just tackle her just before or after Skeletron - that is, after they've taken out Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu. She's a bit easier than Skeletron. This Boss fight is fairly simple, though someone taking her on early could use some tips. I'll also write on a few of her interesting drops, for players who might want to farm her for the Bee weapons she drops.
Finding and Summoning Queen Bee
Explore the Underground/Cavern layer of the Jungle and you'll eventually locate a hive. Mapping out this area is good for later, so this is a worthwhile thing regardless of when you find her. There are typically more than one hive in the Jungle, at least on Medium+ Worlds. When you do find one, do not go in it from the bottom, as you may drain Honey to an area where it's worthless. Instead, come in from the top and be prepared to get attacked by several bees when you do so. They should not pose a major threat.
There is not always a larva, or it may be hidden under the Honey pool. If that happens, you can seek another hive.
Smashing the larva you see pictured above will summon the Queen. However, once inside, you may consider placing a campfire if your armor is low (18 or less), or expanding the area if it's a really small beehive. You want at least a little room to maneuver, but it's not necessary it be large. If you're going to melee her, it's wise to build some platforms because she spends a lot of time hovering in the air. During that time, you'll have to leap in order to hit her. Rope could help, as well. Know that standing in Honey regenerates your life faster, though you can drown. It may come in handy during the fight, and ranged may spend a lot of time in there while she is hovering, shooting from within the Honey.
Fighting Queen Bee
Queen Bee will start the fight by charging you three times. You can bait her by jumping, so that she charges where you were when she initiates. With cloud in a bottle or rope, it's easy to climb/jump above her attack. She will occasionally swoop, but it's not as threatening as the charge. Once this cycle is over, she will hover in midair and launch bees at you, which can be killed and do drop hearts. This boss has never killed me because of that, and that honey and campfires stack to massively increase health regen.
Pummel her however you can when she is hovering, and eventually you'll whittle down her life. It's not as much as Skeletron, and this fight is decent practice for that. If you want to farm her, you have to find another hive or craft an Abeemination (Terraria Wiki). Once defeated she will always drop one of three weapons: the bow, sword, or gun, with a separate chance to also drop a wand.
Drops & Witch Doctor
If you've got spare housing, the Witch Doctor will now move into your town. His Imbuing Station allows you to make flasks, and he sells a few other interesting items. The Queen Bee is worth farming for those who like to collect; the weapons are not too shabby. All three are focused on bees, of course, and deal extra damage with the homing bees attacking your target. The bee gun is actually a magical weapon. The sword releases bees when you attack, and the bow behaves similarly.
