Quest Start: Three Dog, Galaxy News Radio Building, Capital Wasteland
Your first goal is to find the Museum of Technology. Start by going straight down the stairs from Three Dog, then straight through the door. Head all the way down the long stairwell where you'll find a door marked Exit that leads to Dupont Circle. When you go through the door and are outside, the path you need to take is straight ahead. Navigate your way down the rubble, and maybe take some time to snipe Ghouls if you can, so they won't bother you later. There is a bridge that leads to another subway tunnel to the Northeast. Go inside.
Work your way to the north, then to the east at the first split in the tunnel. It will swing around to the south, leading you into Dupont Circle. As long as you are tracking this quest from this point, you should be led to the Museum of Technology without further guidance. You will have to navigate a couple of metro systems, but they aren't very challenging as they are mostly populated by raiders. When you surface, and are at a waypoint on the map you can easily head back to Megaton or Tenpenny Tower to visit your house, get rested xp bonus, sell items and return to the fray. Stimpacks are a must, not for the challenge here but for the sheer number of raiders you will end up facing that take little pieces of your life away. You may see signs on the way that say 'Mall Outpost'. This is another good sign you're going the right way.
When you reach Metro Central, you're in great shape. Push to the south and keep up the good fight. When you reach the stairs in Museum Station, and can't go any further, look for an electrical switch at the bottom of the stairs. Press it to access the stairs. Be prepared for a small skirmish at the top of them, and look around the Raider's room there for a copy of Grognak the Barbarian. Afterward, head further into the tunnels and take the turn to the right to the southbound Museum Station.
You will come to another large room with escalators. Climb them and head to the east through the tunnel. You will come to the Mall, which doesn't have a waypoint right where you come out, so you'll need to do a bit of fighting. Once the Museum of Technology is discovered, you can feel free to return and sell, repair and all that, as you're going to need to -- the Museum of Technology is crawling with Super Mutants. Just be sure to grab the waypoint first. If you find you are having trouble initiating a fast travel while the Mutants are attacking you, hide and wait for them to come to you because the dangerous part is getting to each of them while you're under fire. Another option of course is a Stealth Boy, which can help immensely. Just be careful not to go on a killing spree that leads you too far away from the Musuem, the last thing you want to do is get locked into battle.
Right inside the entrance to the Museum you will be attacked. I encountered a Super Mutant Master here who had a massive load of hit points. Directly north of here, there is a museum information terminal that has a file named #000. Look at this file to see a letter from someone named Prime, with clues as to how to find their share of the loot. Actually, the only clue here is prime. There are three computer terminals in the museum that need to be accessed.
Now that you've got the dish and the loot, press on. The Washington Monument is very near the Museum of Technology, but of course there are a few more Super Mutants in your way. Head west to get straight to it. Use the security terminal to open the gate, and use the elevator to rise to the top. Install the Dish on the relay then return to the Mall and fast-walk to GNR Plaza. Talk to Three Dog to receive your xp reward, and the location of the next Main Quest.
GNR's radio signal will now be strong enough that you can listen to the station all across the wasteland. Personally, I enjoy the music in this game so this was cool for me.
